I am terribly sorry about the prolonged wait, things should get easier from here on out and the parts should come almost every weekend now, please forgive me.
Anyways, here's part nine:
The Major arose early in the morning and decided to ensure that the detachment would have everything it needed. While on his way to the storehouse he found Captain Frag. "I thought I might find you here, sir," said Captain Frag.
"Did you now? I guess I'm just too predictable," replied the Major.
"No, I just know you sir, I've been under your command since the beginning of the war."
"You're right, and I have a pretty good understanding of my men, you need something."
"Well, yes, I would like to know something."
"I was thinking about what happened in the facility yesterday. I want to know what got you so worked up sir."
The Major was quiet for a moment thinking of an answer. "Don't worry about it. There might be no problem at all."
"With all due respect sir, not many things get you rattled. I have a feeling it was quite important."
"Sometimes initial reactions are wrong, it's really nothing."
"Sir, I don't understand. If it's a secret do you not trust me to keep it. I thought I was one of your must trusted captains?"
"You are, it's just that you don't need to know, nothing to lose sleep on."
Captain Frag seemed hurt and distraught. "I hope so sir. I'll exercise my trust in you and not say anything else on the matter, but at least do this for me sir. Let me be the first to know what this is if it becomes important enough."
"Certainly, Captain Frag, you'll be the first to know."
"Thank you sir, we'll be ready when you need us."
"Good, it should be less than two hours."
"Yes sir, see you then."
The Major felt torn within himself about not telling his most trusted Captain. After the battle of Geonosis, during the complete organization of the G.A.R., Captain Frag's company was put in his battalion within the 585th Legion. Although the 585th saw very little action because it had been used as a unit to incorporate rookies into the real ranks, the Major's battalion had been sent as a detachment of the Legion on a few occasions and had come back successfully on their missions gaining respect within the Legion. Throughout the first year of the Clone Wars, now beginning the second, the Major and Captain Frag had grown close.
The Major soon finished checking that all the supplies needed were available and decided to return to his quarters in the camp until it would be time to set out. He entered his tent-like quarters and closed the flaps behind him. The room was lit by a small lantern, that gave a faint dark yellow glow in the room. It was set on a dirtied white crate, that was near his cot on the floor. The Major went over to the crate and removed the lantern setting it to the side. He opened the crate and inside was a DC-17m blaster laying on top of a white sheet which concealed more of his personal belongings. As he handled it, painful memories flashed in his head. Visions of intense battle, sandy orange plains, many dying clone troopers,… a mistake… his mistake….
I hope everyone enjoyed that and the next part WILL be out either this weekend or the next. God bless!
