Hey y'all! Here's Part Nine. Finally. ------- Turtle was running to the briefing room once again. It seemed like that was all she did nowdays. She had received word that a very urgent situation had arisen on Naboo, and Fearsome Fivesome had been called to help take care of it. Turtle attempted to gather her hair into a ponytail as she ran. It didn't look pretty, but it was out of the way. Soon she saw the door to briefing room 1C. The door was open as she entered the large room. By some miracle, she was early. The large room wasn't even halfway full. The semicircular benches all faced the front of the room, where the holoprojector was. Turtle quickly took a seat next to Sam and behind Ani. Badger and Waros had yet to arrive. "Nice hair," Ani teased. "Hey, at least I made it here on time," Turtle replied playfully. Ani simply smiled and turned to face the front of the room. As Turtle gazed around the room, she noticed the expressions on the faces of the Rebel leaders. She immediately became alarmed. Something is terribly wrong, Turtle thought. "This can't possibly be good," Sam intoned, as if he was reading Turtle's mind. "You're right, Sam. They rarely call us in after just returning from a mission two days ago. This must be serious." Sam nodded gravely. More Rebels filed into the room. Turtle noticed the Princess looking around anxiously, as if the fighters were moving too slowly for her liking. As Badger entered the room, Turtle noticed a change in her friend's countenance. The girl sat down next to Turtle, looking extremely worried. "You sense it, too?" Sam asked, leaning over so that he could make eye contact with Badger. "Yes," she whispered. Turtle grew increasingly uneasy with each passing second. After a few more minutes, the briefing room was filled. Waros had taken a seat next to Ani. Turtle looked for Shav, but couldn't find him anywhere. Princess Leia stood up. "Close the doors," she commanded. One of the Rebel troopers in the back of the room carried out the order. Leia hesitated for a moment before beginning. "We have received some very disconcerting news concerning the city of Theed on the planet Naboo. One of our spies has alerted us of an Imperial plot to take over the planet." The Princess hesitated before continuing. It was dead silent in the briefing room. All the listeners were on the edges of their seats, waiting to see what proverbial bomb the Princess was about to drop. "The Empire is threatening to release a deadly -and contagious-disease on the city. Only the Empire has the cure for it. Left unchecked, this disease will destroy the city and all the life in it." There were gasps of shock from all present, save some of the generals and captains, who already knew. Turtle was horrified. Naboo was such a beautiful planet. It was one of the Alliance's strongest allied systems. What are we going to do? ------- Again, sorry for the wait. I was super-busy this week. Part Ten will be coming up VERY soon, because the first draft for Part Nine was so long I had the split it into two seperate parts.:) Look for the other half of Part Nine and Part Ten! Thanks! DON'T STOP BELIEVING!
